Replacing aging equipment can improve comfort, reliability, and operating efficiency, but the cost often delays important projects.
The NREN Commercial Energy Upgrades Program helps eligible small and medium-sized businesses and public agencies offset the cost of qualifying energy improvements through financial incentives and technical support.
Our team works with participating contractors to identify available incentives and guide you through the process, making it easier to invest in equipment that can reduce energy use and operating expenses for years to come.
Since every building is different, incentive amounts vary based on your facility, existing equipment, and the improvements being installed.
How It Works
1. Sign Up
Our team will conduct an initial eligibility review of your business or public agency.
2. On-Site Assessment
If eligible, receive a free virtual or on-site energy assessment and personalized energy report with recommendations for energy-saving upgrades.
3. Equipment Installation
Get connected with a local participating contractor to complete the recommended upgrades.
4. Project Review & Payment
Once your upgrades are verified, the qualifying incentive payment is made directly to your contractor.
Eligible Upgrades
Heat Pump Water Heaters
Heat pump water heaters can significantly reduce energy use while providing reliable hot water for restaurants, lodging, grocery stores, and other commercial facilities.
Upgrade Outdated Lighting
Replacing outdated lighting with modern LED fixtures and controls can reduce electricity use while improving visibility for employees and customers.

Program Eligibility
PG&E Customer
The electric account serving the Installation Site Address must have active service through PG&E, and/or Pioneer Community Energy, Sonoma Clean Power (SCP), and/or Redwood Coast Energy Authority (RCEA) and include the Public Purpose Programs charge on the bill.
Location Requirements
The installation site is located within one of the following counties:
Alpine, Amador, Butte, Calaveras, El Dorado, Humboldt, Lake, Lassen, Mariposa, Mendocino, Nevada, Placer, Plumas, Sierra, Sutter, Tuolumne, and Yuba
