Help Deliver Energy Upgrades Across Rural Northern California
NREN is seeking qualified contractors to join our network of Participating Contractors for our Residential and Commercial Direct Install Programs. As a Participating Contractor, you’ll help deliver energy efficiency improvements to homes and businesses while expanding your customer base through projects supported by NREN incentives.
By working with NREN, you can offer customers lower out-of-pocket costs for qualifying energy efficiency upgrades while growing your business in communities throughout Northern California.
How Our Direct Install Programs Work
NREN offers residential and commercial energy efficiency direct-install incentive programs that reduce the upfront cost of energy efficiency improvements for customers.
The NREN direct install program pays incentives directly to participating contractors after eligible equipment is installed and inspected. Contractors pass these savings on to customers through reduced project costs, making qualifying upgrades more affordable.
NREN is recruiting licensed contractors with experience in residential and/or commercial energy efficiency improvements.
Eligible projects may include:
- HVAC systems, specifically ducted and ductless heat pumps
- Heat pump water heaters
- Lighting upgrades
- Refrigeration equipment (commercial)
- Insulation and air sealing
- Building controls and other qualifying energy efficiency measures

Contractor Requirements & Qualifications
To participate in our program, contractors must adhere to the following:
- Serve PG&E residential and/or commercial customers within NREN service territory
- Be licensed and in good standing with the California State License Board (CSLB)
- Maintain all required insurance and business documentation
- Agree to adhere to NREN program standards and quality assurance requirements

Serve residential and/or commercial customers within NREN's service territory
The Northern Rural Energy Network serves residents, small and medium-sized businesses, and public agencies in the following 17 counties in Northern California:
Alpine, Amador, Butte, Calaveras, El Dorado, Humboldt, Lake, Lassen, Mariposa, Mendocino, Nevada, Placer, Plumas, Sutter, Tuolumne, and Yuba.
Be licensed and in good standing with the California State License Board (CSLB)
Maintain all required insurance and business documentation
Meet applicable program participation requirements
Agree to follow NREN program standards and quality assurance

Step 2
Our team will review your information and contact you to discuss program eligibility.
Step 3
Complete the required enrollment documents and program agreements.
Step 4
Begin working with NREN on qualifying Direct Install projects.
